A Junior Gold option for eligible players residing or attending school within ISD 197 boundaries will be offered during the 2009-10 season. The team(s) will skate under the name St. Thomas Academy Junior Gold. Enrollment at St. Thomas Academy is not a requirement for participating. Practices and home games will be held at St. Thomas Ice Arena. Most practices will be held in the morning prior to the start of the school day.

The Junior Gold team(s) through this option will be formed after the completion of JV/Varsity tryouts in November.
Players attending school within the boundaries of ISD 197 and residing outside the boundaries of ISD 197 can elect a one-time choice to play in the association where they reside, if they played in that association last season. The one-time choice must be made for the 2009-10 season, and it applies to all future seasons. Players electing the one-time choice simply register with the association based on the former "residency rule". There is no need to notify Sibley Area Youth Hockey.
Players residing within the boundaries of ISD 197 and attending school outside the boundaries of ISD 197 should register with the association that covers the area where they attend school. No waiver is necessary and there is no need to notify Sibley Area Youth Hockey.
Players that request waivers should follow Minnesota Hockey and District 8 policies on waivers.
Before contacting Gary Westman (hockeywestman@comcast.net) for a waiver, players should register online at http://www.usahockey.com as an individual player. This will cost $40. Bring your registration receipt when you request a waiver.
When players register with the receiving association, the association should deduct the $40 from their fees.
The waiver process must be completed in person. After the waiver is signed by Sibley Area Youth Hockey, it must be signed by:
(1) Receiving youth hockey association
(2) District 8 Director, Rich Rakness
(3) Other District Director if waiver is to an association outside of District 8
All signatures must be on the waiver before a player can begin participating in a Junior Gold program with another association.
