The Optimist Club of West St. Paul is collecting used ice skates in good condition for an elementary student skating program. Club members are seeking gently used skates to lend to elementary students as part of their Bringing out the Best in Kids Mission.
WSP City council member Darlene Lewis brought the idea to the group and the Optimists will help gather and distribute skates in childrens' Sizes 1-5 for the mid-winter project. " With such great ice rinks available in West St. Paul, it seemed a perfect project for us," says Casey Spavin. Donations of specified sizes will be taken at the WSP Ice Arena, located at 60 Emerson Ave. West until January 4th, 2009.
Note: Only small skate sizes needed for this project. Sizes 1-5.
Donated skates can be dropped off in the arena office or at the Sibley Area Youth Hockey concession stand.
